Anagram of Murder by Seymour Matthews is chosen as our Autumn production.
This tense, dramatic thriller contains plenty of twists to keep your audience guessing. Beautiful Veronica plots to murder her writer husband, Gus, but becomes alarmed when Gus discusses the plot of his new novel, which is uncomfortably close to her murder plans. She presses ahead, however, but things do not run entirely smoothly. Next day the police report the finding of a body — but is it Gus? The final denouement contains several surprises before the guilty are brought to justice.

Players make a superb job of solving an Anagram of Murder
THERE'S murder afoot in Allestree this week but it's not clear who is murdering who, when or where.
Allestree Theatre Group bring to the stage Anagram of Murder, written by Seymour Matthews.
This was my first chance to see an offering by this ensemble cast and it was obvious that everyone involved knew their lines, hit their cues and had made an effort to do the play justice.
Veronica (Ronnie), the long suffering wife played by Irene Thorpe, came across as confident and almost ruthless.
For me she made this play work on so many levels. Anne Wood was the slightly off-the-wall secretary Sally Dure and a dab hand at playing to the crowd. Nigel Smith was made for the part of Detective Inspector Morgan, switching between stern policeman and star-crossed lover.
The plot twists and turns, you think you see which way it's all heading and then it changes direction again – fast-paced and great fun.

New Year Party
7/01/2012
The ATG’s New Year’s Party was held at St Edmund's Church Hall. All those that attended enjoyed an evening of quizzes and games.
Many thanks to the catering team who overcame the lack of equipment to provide an excellent supper of sausages and mash followed by treacle pudding and custard.
Questionable Chips
21/01/2012
Team ATG took part in a quiz evening arranged by QUADS and although they didn’t win, they didn’t disgrace themselves either. Especially as the team was arranged with very short notice. Everyone enjoyed the fish and chip supper at the midway point.
We hope to arrange a return match in the summer.
The Final Test Set Building Begins
20/02/2012
Now that the panto is over and Trains Day has been and gone, we can at last get on the stage to start set building in earnest.
Our only problem is how to grow grass inside on a wooden floor in the dark.
If you want to find out come and help us construct the set.
