A PLAY, SOME PIES, CAKES AND SNICKERDOODLES
Despite freezing temperatures and a dusting of snow the evening of the 17th December saw the gathering of the ATG at Fred and Margaret’s for the annual Christmas play reading followed by a glass of wine and mince pies.
Fred had chosen “Wild Goose Chase” by Derek Benfield which provided an excuse for outrageous accents, misunderstandings and laughter, and that was just from the members who were reading the parts never mind the ones in the script.
Pat had brought along a birthday cake as a thank you for all the memories that had been sent for her 80th birthday.
So a big thank you to Fred and Margaret for providing a lovely warm and cosy venue for us. And the snickerdoodles? They were a sweet cinnamon Christmas cookie possibly originating from New England, America in the 1800’s that disappeared off the plate quicker than you could say mince pies.
CHAIRMAN REJECTS VIRGIN
Virgin Media has seen its profits drop over the Christmas period as BT’s share prices soar. David has moved from Virgin to BT and therefore has a new telephone number.
IT’S THE DEMON DRINK
A big thank you to Trish for organising an enjoyable and successful Christmas dinner and dance at the Mickleover Court Hotel.
The food was good especially as it was washed down by the free wine. Richard performed several very entertaining dance routines with a bow tie and the young ladies from adjoining tables, blaming it on the “demon drink”.
